Cédric Mouton is not your typical vigneron. He began as a practitioner of Qigong, the ancient Chinese art of energy cultivation, balancing internal rhythms with the natural world — something he now does through the vineyard. The philosophy transferred seamlessly: patience, respect, minimal intervention, and a deep attentiveness to what the land is trying to say.
Petit Mouton Noir is a Grenache Noir, and each sip reveals ripe damsons and plums, harmoniously balanced with earthy notes of damp forest floor. At just 13% ABV it's light and alive — slightly fizzy for the first glass until the energy dissipates, then an abundance of dark fruit exquisitely balanced by a woody, earthy quality. Grenache Gris adds a taut, bright feel.
Cédric farms 6.5 hectares in the Gorges du Gouleyrous between Tautavel and Paziols, on clay-limestone and shale soils, accessible only via rugged mountain roads. Every grape is harvested by hand, fermentation happens naturally, and from the 2022 vintage, Cédric introduced Georgian amphora vats to deepen the wine's connection to the earth.
This is the entry point to Cédric's world. Once you're in, it's hard to leave.
