Vinné Sklepy Kutná Hora

Vinné Sklepy Kutná Hora is a family-owned winery founded in 2002 by Stanislav Rudolfský and now managed by his son Lukáš. The winery revives the ancient viticultural traditions of Kutná Hora, a city whose wine history dates back to 1101, as recorded in Kosmas’ Chronicle. Kutná Hora itself rose to prominence in the Middle Ages as a royal mining town, famed for its silver wealth and Gothic landmarks such as the Church of St. Barbara and the Cathedral of Our Lady at Sedlec.

The winery cultivates 44 hectares of vineyards across sites like U Všech svatých, Pod chrámem sv. Barbory, Nad Kapličkou, and U Borku. These vineyards are managed according to biodynamic principles, making Vinné sklepy Kutná Hora the only Demeter-certified winery in the country. Annual production reaches about 80,000 bottles, crafted without synthetic chemicals and relying on natural fermentation.

Pinot Noir, once widespread in Bohemia under Emperor Charles IV, thrives here alongside varieties such as St. Laurent, Riesling, and Müller-Thurgau. The wines are known for their minerality and spiciness, reflecting the terroir shaped by centuries of cultivation and the unique geology of Kutná Hora.

By harmonizing lunar cycles, herbal preparations, and holistic farming, the winery treats its vineyards as living ecosystems. This approach preserves biodiversity and ensures wines of purity, energy, and authenticity.

Vinné sklepy Kutná Hora thus embodies both royal tradition and modern sustainability, offering wines that carry the spirit of a UNESCO-listed town and the innovation of biodynamic viticulture. Each bottle tells the story of a city once enriched by silver and now celebrated for its wine.
