Same plots, same grapes, same four friends — but this is Koudou turned up to another level entirely. Even wilder but with the same elegance, Grand Koudou is a wine of strong character that shows more finesse and becomes more voluptuous with time.
A blend of Syrah and Carignan from the higher elevations of the same plots as the Koudou, where the Tramontane wind is cooler and the growing season slower. That extra altitude and patience shows: where Koudou offers immediate pleasure, Grand Koudou asks you to wait — and rewards you for doing so. Hand-harvested with berry selection, aged 15 months in barrel on fine lees, then a further four months in bottle, this is a wine built with real ambition and real craft.
The granite soils of Caramany at altitude give the blend a mineral backbone that runs through everything — dark fruit, spice, and depth balanced by the kind of freshness you only get from vines grown high above the Mediterranean heat.
At Clos 58, every stage is controlled from land to bottle, with separate winemaking for each plot and a singular goal: to preserve the expression of the original fruit and extract its essence. In Grand Koudou, that mission is fully realised.
Decant it. Give it time. This is the one to cellar.
