The name translates as "serum of life," and for a wine this pure and focused, it feels entirely earned. From a single, unique plot of old Carignan, Sérum de Vie is the result of precise work from vineyard to winery — nothing left to chance except Nature itself.
Generous and full-bodied yet with a lovely freshness on the palate, it opens with a hint of vanilla on the nose before giving way to velvety tannins, ripe fruit, chocolate, and the wild scents of the garrigue. At altitude, the Carignan sings — blueberry fruit leads elegantly, with dark chocolate and tobacco lingering long on the finish. At just 12% ABV, it carries all that richness with surprising lightness.
Clos 58 is a hidden estate in the Caramany terroir of the Roussillon, its plots enclosed within forest at over 400 metres altitude, cooled by the Tramontane wind and rooted in ancient granite soils. Founded by four friends — Gilles, Marc, Sylvie and Victoire — their ambition is to produce special, unique wines that carry their history and their values.
Only 1,197 bottles were produced in the 2019 vintage.
A wine to treasure.
